Chimer debuted as v1.01, with a fixed, single dial and one chime with Ships Bells. Although small and square with a grey background, Chimer had charm. 2001-2002 Chimer was transformed. Multiple midi chimes and introduction chimes were incorporated, but, Ships Bells were discontinued. An improved visual system, now circular that could easily resize, from 20-100%, was also incorporated. Towards the end of 2002, Chimer graduated to v1.00.126, comprising 6,994 lines of code. 2002-2003 Further advancements in Chimer's internal storage and retrieval system provided the opportunity for multiple dials. By early 2003 Chimer had 4 dials and 28 chimes. Ships Bells also returned, with a new British Royal addition. Both Chimer's visual and audio systems were tweaked for higher stability and usability, and v2.00.278 with a total of 10,404 lines of code was released. 2005 Chimer was updated to XP with an entire audio system overhaul. Chimer emerged as v2.00.290. 2011 In early 2007 initial work began on building a brand new generation of Chimer. A generation to lever full power and flexibility of our newly created VUN system (Visual Management, User Management and Network Management code foundation). Chimer would glimpse the future. Every system of Chimer was painstakingly stripped down, re-engineered, and built back up to the highest, most stringent standard of quality and stability. Some of these: GUI (graphical user interface), menus, midi management (chime playback), wave management (playback / record), multimedia, help (virtual browser supporting native html), custom independent common dialogs (open, save, color, print, prompt, etc), networking, animation, storage and retrieval, graphic processing routines (large scale, reliable, hardware independent), managed timing system (64bit on 32bit systems), setup / duplication / portable modes, print management, advanced keyboard support. The list goes on. In early 2011 after 4 years of redevelopment, Chimer's update was complete. Chimer now sports a shiny new GUI with many new and easy to use features; features that appear deceptively simple, just the way it was meant to be. One significant difference is Chimer's use of virtual controls (custom built and lightweight) over the native Windows brethren. This provides Chimer with significant flexibility and power, not previously attainable, whilst also providing further stability and consistency across all Windows operating systems. All of Chimer's new systems are fully managed and automated. 2012 10 new built-in programs added (Image Browser, Image Converter, Icons, Text to GIF, Clipboard Grabber, Text Reference, Secure File, Electronic Card Creator, Print Server and Local Services Map) - 24 in all. Various system improvements, including a Program Guide. Chimer is now comprised of over 173,000+ lines of code. Chimer comes complete with 24 built-in programs. No additional installation or setup is required. Each program is part of Chimer's internal system code and not a separate program executable (EXE).
